Bicycle Links
- The
US Bicycle Hall of Fame
- A well kept secret in suburban New Jersey, you can tour the Hall of
Fame and see a piece of the wooden track used in the early 1900s for the 6
day races in Madison Square Garden...or many other priceless artifacts.
- Campy Only -
a website for us Italian component diehards! Sponsored by Branford
Bike, the Campy Only site provides a tremendous amount of
information about current and older Campagnolo equipment.
- Harris
Cyclery - Home of Sheldon Brown and lots of advice on all things
related to cycling.
- Vecchio's
Bicicletteria - if you can't find the answer anywhere else,
check with Peter. He can tell you everything you need to know about parts
compatibility, and provide a down-to-earth explanation of why StupidLight
parts aren't necessarily good. He also keeps most popular items in stock,
and can get pretty much anything else, so be sure to support his ship with
your purchases.
- Pam Fernandes
- Pam is a three time Paralympic medallist, enjoys cycling for many
reasons, including the fact that it keeps her in top physical shape, important
in her fight against diabetes. She trains five to six days per week, logging
over 500 miles per month and competes in regional, national and international
cycling events each year. If you need a motivational speaker for your
corporate gathering, give Pam a call or send her an email. Did I mention that
she lost her sight 20 years ago? She's pretty inspiring!
- Slick Willy
Bicycle Lube - while Bill's bicycle lubrication doesn't have the
marketing muscle or broad distribution of major lube manufacturers, the stuff
works. The local Boston racing community digs this stuff, and it is getting
broader distribution. You can find it at a couple of bike shops in Boston or
order it online from Bill's website. Try it, you'll like it!
- Rocket7
manufactures custom
footwear for elite athletes. Their unique manufacturing process and advanced
aerospace materials allow them to build custom footwear that performs
exceptionally well. Located in the Seattle area, the company hand builds its
shoes with the needs of each athlete in mind. Visit them at www.rocket7.com.
Update - I bought a pair of shoes from Rocket7 and
had problems with them. The Rocket7 fitting system was unable to compensate
for my bowed legs and Rocket7 would not take the shoes back or refund my
money. Before you order, ask Brian about his satisfaction guarantee...his
shoes are too expensive for them not to come out right...and sometimes they
don't.
- Resource
Revival - all sorts of good stuff made from recycled bike parts!
- Road rash. Fall recently? Don't know how to deal with road rash?
Happened to me too...first time in 30 years of riding. In doing some
research, I found two things. First, a neat product called "Tegaderm"
transparent dressing...made by 3M, it looks like saran wrap and keeps the
wound moist so that new skin can form. Any good pharmacy should be able to
provide it. Second, I found a website that gives lots of information about
road rash (and offers several products to help) at www.bravesoldier.com.
Take a quick look before your next ride. Hope you don't need it!
